Tom Cochrane & Red Rider - Big League (1988)
When he was a kid, he'd be up at five
Take shots 'til eight and make the thing drive
Out after school and back on ice
That was his life, he was gonna play in the big league
Oh-oh!
The big league
Not many ways out of this cold northern town
You work in the mill and get laid in the ground
And if you're going to jump it will be with the game
Real fast and tough is the only clear lane to the big league
My boy's
My boy's going to play in the big league
My boy's going to turn some heads
My boy's going to play in the big league
My boy's going to knock 'em dead
Oh-oh!
The big league
All the right moves when he turned eighteen
Scholarship and school on a big U.S. team
Out with his girl near Lake McClean
Hit a truck doing seventy in the wrong lane
To the big league
Oh-oh!
My boy's going to play in the big league
My boy's going to turn some heads
My boy's going to play in the big league
My boy's going to knock 'em dead
Oh-oh!
You never can tell what might come down
You never can tell way you might check out
You just don't know, no, you never can tell
Sometimes at night I can hear the ice crack
It sounds like thunder and it rips through my back
Sometimes in the morning I still hear the sound
Ice meets metal
"Can't you drive me down to the big league?"
Oh-oh!
My boy's going to play in the big league
My boy's going to turn some heads
My boy's going to play in the big league
My boy's going to knock 'em dead
Oh-oh!
You never can tell what might come down
You never can tell when you might check out
You just don't know, no, you never can tell
So do right to others like you do to yourself
In the big league (My boy's going to play in the big league)
Oh-oh!
The big league (My boy's going to play in the big league)
Oh-oh!
The big league

I'm a wheel, I'm a wheel I can roll, I can feel And you can't stop me turning Cause I'm the sun, I'm the sun I can move, I can run But you'll never stop me burning Come down with fire Lift my spirit higher Someone's screaming my name Come and make me holy again I'm the man on the silver mountain I'm the man on the silver mountain I'm the day, I'm the day I can show you the way And look I'm righ...

I was born by the river In a little tent Oh, and just like the river, I've been running Ever since It's been a long A long time coming, but I know A change gon' come Oh yes, it will It's been too hard living But I'm afraid to die 'Cause I don't know what's up there Beyond the sky It's been a long A long time coming, but I know A change gon' come Oh yes, it will I go to the movie And I go downto...

I've never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight I've never seen you shine so bright, mhm hm I've never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance They're looking for a little romance Given half a chance And I have never seen that dress you're wearing Or the highlights in your hair that catch your eyes I have been blind The lady in red is dancing with me Cheek to cheek There's nobo...

Just a little more time is all we're asking for 'Cause just a little more time could open closing doors Just a little uncertainty can bring you down And nobody wants to know you now And nobody wants to show you how So if you're lost and on your own You can never surrender And if your path won't lead you home You can never surrender And when the night is cold and dark You can see, you can see li...

C'mon Does she walk? Does she talk? Does she come complete? My homeroom, homeroom angel Always pulled me from my seat She was pure like snowflakes No one could ever stain The memory of my angel Could never cause me pain Years go by I'm lookin' through a girly magazine And there's my homeroom angel on the pages in-between My blood runs cold My memory has just been sold My angel is the centerfold...

Anyone remember the song's title? I remember the song but not its title. Couldn't remember the band either (One Horse Blue) The song captures much of men/women's relationship failures. Found this song on a C&W Hits 'TAPE' I picked up a flea market for 50 cents. Best song on this tape of all C&W big hits.

If only real life were like that. Instead, we have a self-centered society where half of marriage end in divorce no matter how many kids are involved. Sometimes it's necessary, but in many cases it's just people putting themselves and what they want first.
